Even though the physical distances got bridged, the personal connect decreased manifolds. As the emotions got replaced with emoticons, the genuine feelings of letters got lost in the personally curated social media updates. Despite instant connectivity & huge digital friend lists, people are lonelier than ever before. A vast majority of smartphone users are constantly worried about their social acceptability, digital presence, fanfare and quick entertainment. Massive usage of smartphone is leading to mental distress, dissatisfaction, fragmented attention & increasingly shallow relationships. People have realised that the depth of few handwritten letters can never be achieved by a million digital threads. It’s time to disconnect from virtual to nurture the deep life.
